Plastic Injection Molding Uses, Machine Types and Advantages

Plastic injection molding is the most commonly used manufacturing process for producing plastic parts. A wide variety of plastic products that vary widely in size, complexity and application are manufactured using injection molding. Injection molding courses require the use of injection molding machines, plastic materials and molds. The injection molding machine melts the plastic and injects it into the mold. This molten plastic is then cooled and solidified to form the shape of the final product.

Ⅰ. The use of plastic injection molding

Plastic injection molding is used to manufacture thin-walled plastic components for a variety of applications. Its applications can be found in plastic housings. They may be a thin-walled shell that usually requires several ribs and managers on the inside. These enclosures are used in a variety of products such as home appliances, consumer electronics, power tools, and automotive bumpers/dashboards.

Plastic injection molding is also used to make everyday items such as toothbrushes, bottle caps or miniature plastic toys. Medical devices, such as valves and syringes, are also some products made by injection molding.

Ⅱ. The type of plastic injection molding machine

Different industries and applications require different machines. Simply put, all types of injection molding machines consist of two parts, the first is the injection unit, and the second is the clamping unit. Although seemingly simple, they serve a wide range of end-user needs. Some types are listed below.

1. Full hydraulic presses: They provide the high clamping force required for the production of large plastic parts.

2. Motors: They are ideal for short injection times and provide optimal production cleanliness.

3. Mixers: They have excellent energy efficiency and provide more freedom for innovative mold design.

Over the years, we have designed multiple machines to suit every application in the plastic injection molding industry.

Ⅲ. The benefits of plastic injection molding products

1. Plastic injection molding is a very versatile method of manufacturing parts and products. Compared to other plastic molding methods, it is an extremely simple, reliable and effective method.

2. Injection molds are subjected to extremely high pressures, which makes it possible to add a large number of complex shapes and details to the design. Otherwise, these geometric designs would be too complex to manufacture.

3. The plastic injection molding process takes less time, which allows more parts to be made from a single mold. High productivity makes plastic injection molding cost-effective and efficient.

4. One of the main advantages of using plastic injection molding is the use of co-injection molding, which makes it possible to use different types of plastics.

5. Plastic injection molding is an automated process. It is performed by robotics, where the robot acts as the sole operator to control and manage the process. This minimizes manufacturing costs as overhead is greatly reduced.

With a lot of research and development in this area, plastic injection molding today is an environmentally friendly process. Waste plastics from the production process are reground and reused, ensuring that the process produces very little waste.
